Spring Gala
About our Spring Gala
Each spring, our studio comes together to present our annual Spring Gala, a celebration of classical repertoire ballets and the beauty of dance. This special event gives our students the opportunity to showcase their talent and artistry while immersing themselves in the rich tradition of timeless ballet masterpieces. Through weeks of rehearsals and dedication, our dancers take the stage to share their passion and spread the joy of this vibrant art form. We’re proud to foster a love of classical dance and bring these iconic works to life, inspiring our community and celebrating the power of performance.
Spring Gala 2026: Don Quixote
Don Quixote is a fun and energetic classical ballet told in three acts. It is inspired by the novel by Miguel de Cervantes and is known for its bright Spanish style, strong and lively characters, and joyful, fast-paced dancing.
In Act I, the story begins in a busy Spanish town filled with music and celebration. We meet Kitri, a spirited young woman, and Basilio, the clever barber she loves. Kitri’s father, Lorenzo, does not approve of Basilio and wants Kitri to marry a wealthy man instead. During the town festivities, Don Quixote and his loyal friend Sancho Panza arrive. Don Quixote believes Kitri is his dream lady, Dulcinea. When Kitri’s father tries to separate the lovers, Kitri and Basilio decide to run away together to stay united.
In Act II, Kitri and Basilio travel through the countryside. Along the way, they encounter gypsies and villagers, and Don Quixote becomes involved in their adventures. After attacking a windmill, Don Quixote falls asleep and has a magical dream filled with fairies, dryads, and a queen, where Kitri appears as Dulcinea. Later, Kitri and Basilio are found by Lorenzo and the others. Basilio uses a clever trick, pretending to be badly hurt, to convince Kitri’s father to finally allow them to marry.
In Act III, the ballet returns to the town for a joyful wedding celebration. Kitri and Basilio are finally married, and the stage is filled with exciting dances, classical variations, and happy moments. Don Quixote and Sancho Panza celebrate with everyone before continuing their journey, and the ballet ends in a lively and festive finale.
